Ansteuerung

Auf den Klippen von Thurso Bay steht ein Leuchtturm. Scrabster ist ein Industriehafen mit ausreichender Tiefe. Besucheryachten müssen mit starkem Schiffsverkehr rechnen. Fischerboote, die Fähre nach Stromness (Orkney) und Versorgungsschiffe der Bohrinseln verursachen ein hohes Verkehrsaufkommen, sodaß stets Vorsicht geboten ist.

Einfahrt

Die erste Pier in Thurso Bay ist der Fähre und den Kreuzfahrtschiffen vorbehalten. An Backbord kommt der Fischereihafen, an Steuerbord liegt die Pier für die Versorgungsschiffe. Hat man den ältesten Teil des Hafens erreicht, mit dem Ice-House an Steuerbord, hält man sich backbord und kommt zum Hafen für die kleineren Fahrzeuge. Beim Festmachen ist der hohe Tidenhub zu beachten.

Versorgung

Beim Hafenmeister gibt es den Schlüssel für die Duschen im örtlichen Segelclub.

Allgemeines

Auf dem Weg von Scrabster nach Thurso liegt ein Lidl-Supermarkt (siehe Karte), in der öffentlichen Bücherei in Thurso besteht die Möglichkeit der Internetnutzung.

Von hier gibt es Fährverbindungen nach Stromness/Orkney, zu den Färoern, Shetlands, Island, Dänemark und Norwegen. Die nahegelegene Stadt Thurso (1 Stunde zu Fuß) hat einen Bahnhof. Das Thurso Tourist Information Centre liegt am Ufer des Thurso-River. In der Bucht stehen die Ruinen des Thurso-Castle. Am Kai ist ein kleines Pub.
